Jennifer Lauren Handmade Vielle Top (Pattern Test)

I haven’t made many things from Jennifer Lauren Handmade before – she has quite a lot of dress patterns and I am not that into making dresses. However, when she asked for testers for the Vielle top, I jumped at the chance. It’s the sort of top I wear a lot and is quite versatile.

The author is wearing a grey/taupe top with small metallic dots on it. The top has short sleeves. She is looking away from the camera.

The pattern is straightforward and easy to sew up quickly. My only downside is that I can’t get my bow on the side to sit as nicely as hers does in the pictures! I think I am tying it wrong somehow.

The author wearing the same top but facing sideways. She has her hand on her hip.
Ignore the fabric at the back, it’s my hand pushing it down…

Not a lot to say about this one, except that I think it will become a TNT for me. I already have a plain blue version cut out – I can see myself making several colours and also the longer sleeved versions when the weather gets colder.

All the deets:

Pattern: Jennifer Lauren Handmade Vielle Top

Size: 18/20/22

Adjustments:

  • I added 2″ length to the bodice
  • Graded between the three sizes (hip/bust/waist)
  • Added 1.5″ length to the sleeves

Fabric used: Metallic spot stretch (can’t find where I got it from!)

Like it?  Wearing it?  Yes and Yes!

Notes for next time:

  • Quick to make
  • Definitely making again – possibly also as a usual bound neck (no bow) and maybe a v-neck variation
