I love it when companies look to increase their size ranges – so I was very happy to be chosen to test the expanded size (UK20-34) range for the Pipedream Patterns Eilidh dress.
This is a dress with the option to have the twist at the front or at the back, I chose at the front.
I used a super soft knit I got at Fabric Muse in Chippendale. It’s super soft and I love the darker background to a floral print.
I don’t often wear florals but I really like this dress. It was still (too) warm in Sydney when I made it, but am looking forward to wearing it to work in winter.
The back view is very scooped. It’s extremely well drafted so as to be super open and yet still hide the underwear. I think if I made it again I would bring the back up a bit, just to make it more of a winter proposition.
All the deets:
Pattern: Pipedream Patterns Eilidh Dress, Version 1
Size: 22, graded back down a bit through the hips
- Added 1.5 inches to the bodice (I would probably take some of this back out as the horizontal twist seam is a little lower than I would like)
- 1.5 inches in the lower adjustment line
- 1.5 inches to the sleeve. I did then shorten the sleeve overall to achieve the length shown.
Fabric used: Polyester (95%) / spandex (5%) knit from Fabric Muse
Like it? Wearing it? I like it, but haven’t really worn it yet (we have all been in COVID isolation ever since the weather got cool enough to wear this!)
Notes for next time:
- Don’t add as much length to the bodice
- Tack along the neckline
